Using TradingMCP
TradingMCP gives your AI assistant market data and analysis tools: market overviews, scanners, technical analysis from the weekly chart down to 15 minutes, backtests, charts and news. It works in Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Grok Bot, Claude Code, Cursor and any other app that can add a remote MCP server. It only reads market data: it never connects to a brokerage or exchange account, places orders or moves money.
https://mcp.tradingmcp.ai/mcp, click Connect and sign in with the email you subscribed with. Then ask: “Give me today’s market brief.”1. What you need
- A TradingMCP plan. Pro is $9 a month: 2,500 tool calls per rolling 30 days, up to 60 a minute. Pro+ is $29 a month: 10,000 calls, up to 150 a minute. See pricing; every plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee.
- An AI app that can add a remote MCP server. Claude works on every plan, including free.
- Only tool calls count toward the quota. Connecting, listing the tools and other protocol traffic are free.
2. Connect
Claude: sign in, nothing to paste
- Open Settings → Connectors in Claude and click Add custom connector.
- Name it
TradingMCP, enterhttps://mcp.tradingmcp.ai/mcpas the URL and add it. - Click Connect. A TradingMCP page opens: sign in with the email you subscribed with (Google, or a sign-in link by email), check that it says it will send you back to
claude.ai, and choose Allow. - Back in Claude, start a chat and make sure TradingMCP is switched on in the chat’s tools menu.
Once added, the connector is also there in the Claude desktop and mobile apps. Claude keeps its access fresh on its own; if it goes unused for 30 days it asks you to sign in again.
Grok: sign in, nothing to paste
- Open grok.com/connectors, choose New Connector, then Custom.
- Name it
TradingMCPand enterhttps://mcp.tradingmcp.ai/mcpas the URL. - A TradingMCP page opens (allow pop-ups from grok.com if your browser blocks it): sign in with the email you subscribed with, check that it will send you back to
grok.com, and choose Allow. - In a new Grok chat, ask your question; mentioning TradingMCP helps Grok pick it.
Grok Bot: sign in, nothing to paste
- In a Grok Bot chat, send:
Add a custom MCP server called TradingMCP at https://mcp.tradingmcp.ai/mcp - Use the connect card it shows: a TradingMCP page opens. Sign in with the email you subscribed with, check that it will send you back to
www.cursor.com, and choose Allow. - Back in Grok Bot, ask your question.
Or start from the Market Brief bot: add it to Grok Bot, connect TradingMCP when it asks, and pick your symbols. Every weekday morning it sends a short brief: your symbols, indices, crypto, commodities, FX, top movers and the biggest headlines.
Any app: your private link
Every plan also comes with a private link, shown on your dashboard and in your welcome email. It looks like https://mcp.tradingmcp.ai/mcp?api_key=… and works in any app that supports remote MCP servers. Treat it like a password; you can replace it from the dashboard at any time.
- Claude: use the private link as the connector URL; no sign-in step.
- ChatGPT (Plus, Pro or Business): Settings → Apps → Advanced → turn on Developer mode. Then Connectors → Create, paste your link as the server URL and choose No authentication.
- Claude Code: run
claude mcp add --transport http tradingmcp "<your link>", then type/mcpto see it connected. - Cursor: add
{"mcpServers": {"tradingmcp": {"url": "<your link>"}}}to~/.cursor/mcp.json(every project) or.cursor/mcp.json(one project).
3. What you can ask
Ask in plain language; the assistant picks the tools. Some questions to start with:
- “Give me today’s market brief.”
- “What are the top crypto gainers on Binance over the last 4 hours?”
- “Multi-timeframe analysis of BTCUSDT on KuCoin.”
- “Show AAPL on the daily chart with Bollinger Bands.”
- “Backtest an RSI strategy on SOL-USD over two years and compare it with buying and holding.”
- “Walk-forward test the EMA cross strategy on SPY. Does it hold up out of sample?”
- “Any unusual options activity on NVDA?”
- “Add ETHUSDT to my watchlist, then show me how my watchlist is doing.”

4. About the data
- Crypto is live. Stocks, FX and futures can be delayed by their exchanges, as with most market data outside a broker.
- Prices and indicators are fetched when you ask, not taken from the model’s memory.
- News and sentiment come from Marketaux under licence.
- Backtests run fixed strategies over past daily or hourly prices and report return, drawdown and win rate against buying and holding. Past results don’t predict future ones.
- Nothing here is financial advice. As with any AI answer, check anything you act on. See the risk disclosure.
5. What the tools can change
Almost nothing: every tool reads market data, except watchlist_add and watchlist_remove, which change your own TradingMCP watchlist and nothing else. No tool reaches a brokerage, an exchange account, your files or your conversations.
6. Limits and messages you might see
- Monthly quota reached: the tool says so and how to upgrade. Calls are counted over a rolling 30 days, so room frees up day by day.
- Rate limit: too many calls in one minute; the assistant can retry after 60 seconds.
- “This account has no active plan”: you signed in with an email that has no subscription. Choose a plan, or, if you pay with another email, sign out of your dashboard first, then disconnect TradingMCP in your app and connect again with that email. While you are signed in here, connecting again picks the same account.
- Data temporarily unavailable: a market data source didn’t answer; asking again a minute later usually works.
Your dashboard shows your plan and usage; invoices, payment method and cancellation are in the billing portal linked from it.
7. Disconnecting and your data
Remove the connector in your app’s settings to stop using it there. To revoke an app’s access on our side, or to have your data deleted, email [email protected]. What we store and for how long is in the privacy policy; the terms cover the rest.
8. Support
Email [email protected]; a person answers. If a tool gave a wrong or failed answer, include the question you asked and roughly when.
